~KABBALAH: THE PROPHECY OF THE CHARIOT~
Copyright (c) 1994 by Joseph G. Savino
ALL RIGHTS RESERVED
Thank you for acquiring this program. KABBALAH: THE PROPHECY OF THE
CHARIOT combines instructive writing and hypertext links to probe
into the Kabbalah, an esoteric and very intriguing religion of the
medieval period. The central theme is that a small number of
prophecies attributed to the 16th century seer Michel de Nostredame
form part of the ~Prophecy of the Chariot~, the semi-legendary
~Revelations of the Prophet Elijah~, a sacred book cherished and
guarded by the medieval Kabbalists for many centuries. Furthermore,
it will be shown that the ~Revelations~, in conjunction with the
Torah, played an important role in the development of the entire
range of Kabbalistic beliefs and traditions, and, most importantly,
that the respective prophecies have considerable relevance for our
modern world. ~Kabbalah: The Prophecy of the Chariot~ claims to
unmask what can be fairly considered the greatest and longest-
lasting secret in all of history.
~BROWSER~
You are presently viewing the program with a very fine and award-
winning text browser called ~Dart~. Dart is easy to use. You move
up and down through the text with the ARROW keys or you can hit the
PAGE UP and PAGE DOWN keys (hit twice to begin). Mouse users can
also use the scroll bar and button tabs at the bottom of the page.
The pull-down menus can be accessed with the F10 function key, then
use the ARROW keys and ENTER. The menus also function like Windows
programs by pressing the ALT + Hilited Letter keys. A brief
description of the function of each menu item, when hilited, can be
read at the bottom of your screen.
If you are having difficulty viewing any part of the text, try
changing the video option by pressing ALT + ~O~ptions and ENTER.
The INS key is a toggle for a block cursor (easier to spot). You
~O~pen text files, ~C~lose them, and e~X~it the program via the
~F~ile menu (ALT + F). To re-start the program, type "Dart" at the
DOS prompt and you will see a directory of text files labelled
K01.# through K10.#. The ARROW and TAB keys move you around, then
hit ENTER to load. It's generally best to close all open files
before exiting (this can be done quickly be pressing the ESC key a
few times), otherwise the program can sometimes fail on automatic
load-up. If this should happen, simply delete a file called
"Dart.dsk" and start again.
If you wish to take notes, hit ALT + ~F~ile, ~O~pen, ALT + ~N~ew.
After naming your notes file a window and workable text editor
will pop up. The ESC key, then ENTER, will save your note for
later viewing and return you to your place in the text. Dart also
incorporates a number of other features for the benefit of the
reader (for example, you can quickly return to the beginning of a
file with CONTROL + PAGE UP); the menu bar and sub-categories make
them largely self-evident and the reader may explore these aids at
his leisure.
~DRAWINGS~
Parts of the text are accompanied by simple line drawings, labelled
<fig01.com>*, <fig02.com>*, etc. To view a drawing, you press the
TAB key to advance the cursor to the asterisk following the braces
and then hit ENTER. Mouse users can CLICK within the braces. You
return to the text by simply hitting any key.
The executable drawings files were prepared with Graphic Workshop,
a program from Alchemy Mindworks, Ontario, Canada.
~HYPERTEXT~
~Kabbalah: The Prophecy of the Chariot~ makes good use of Dart's
strong hypertext features to illustrate the interactive nature of
the prophecies. Later, hypertext becomes an important tool in
demonstrating the connection between the prophecies and the
Kabbalah. By means of the hypertext links the reader will be able
to rapidly pull up related material and this should greatly
facilitate his comprehension of the subject matter.
Inter-file hypertext links will be encountered in the following
form: <Kxx.# zzz>*, where the first term within the braces is the
linked file and the second term is the name of a label within that
file. The cursor can quickly reach the asterisk by pressing the TAB
key (forwards) or SHIFT + TAB (backwards). Then by pressing ENTER
the linked section will immediately open up and you can move around
there by the usual means. Mouse users can reach the linked text by
clicking anywhere within the braces with the left button. To
promptly return to your original place, press the BACKSPACE key
~twice~; mouse users DOUBLE CLICK the right button. If you scroll
within the linked file, you will have to BACKSPACE to the label
before being returned to the original position. A short-cut return,
available with the inter-file links, is to press the ESC key.
Intra-file links look like <Kxx.# zzz>**, i.e., distinguished with
an extra asterisk at the end. They are accessed in the same way as
the inter-file links but to return to your place you press the
BACKSPACE key just once or CLICK the right button just once. Do
~not~ attempt the ESC short-cut here as you will close down
everything and have to re-load.
To expedite the hypertext process, Dart maintains several files
open simultaneously. If your system is short on conventional
memory, you might get an "Out of Memory" or "Error" message. If
this happens, you will have to close down one or more of the open
files to continue using the hypertext feature. You can do this by
SHIFT + TABing back to prior links, hitting ENTER to move to the
linked file, then ALT + ~F~ile, ~C~lose. This will return you to
the original file, then TAB to the stalled link which will now open
as usual. Hypertext features extend to a glossary of important
terms which can be found in the first text file. To review the
definition of a glossary term, you can at any time call up the file
K01.#. Hitting ALT + ~C~ontents, ~T~able, will give you a directory
of terms, then DOWN ARROW and ENTER will promptly open you up to
the respective item.
To take full advantage of the program, it is recommended that the
reader try to make as much use as possible of the hypertext
features.
~SHAREWARE~
The author of this program has a firm commitment to shareware.
Nearly all parts of this package were prepared with registered
shareware products, including PC-Write, Dart, Graphic Workshop
and Pkzip.
~Kabbalah: The Prophecy of the Chariot~ is likewise shareware.
It was designed as a stand-alone product containing more than
sufficient information for the reader to evaluate both the
program's instructional method and its central theme.
Shareware is a method of distribution. It does ~not~ mean that the
product is freeware or in the public domain. Readers who like this
product, or who refer to it time and again, are asked to support
shareware by registering it. The registration fee is $20 for checks
drawn on US banks or $30 (due to bank / conversion charges) for
checks drawn on Canadian banks.
Registered users get a computer disk (3 1/2 in.) with the latest
version of ~Kabbalah: The Prophecy of the Chariot~, plus an extra
copy of the drawings in PCX format (printable on most word
processors). The registered version also includes additional
"Prophetic Studies" and an abundance of technical back-up material
on the secondary themes.
